Updates: Week of February 5, 2023
Updates from Cru Military and Ukraine: Our Missions Committee has shared an update from Carrie Pollock at CRU Military. These have been difficult times for Lt. “R” and his unit. Please keep him, his family, his troops, and all in Ukraine in your prayers. You may read the entire update from Cru by clicking here.
Cru has also shared a link to their fourth quarter report, which you may access by clicking here.
Souper Sunday: A tradition for more than a century! Well, OK, not really, but again this year, using the occasion of a certain Major Sporting Event (scheduled for next Sunday, February 12), we’ll be colllecting cans of soup to donate to LISTEN. Look for a Soup Can of Unusual Size (or a marked table) in Trumbull Hall for your donations. The collection starts “now” and will go for a couple of weeks. Thank you very much for your consideration and for your contibutions for this event. If you have any questions, just ask Norma Pelton!
Joyful Bells: The Joyful Bells English Handbell Ensemble will be playing “The Ashgrove” at our worship service, next Sunday, Feb. 12. This is the tune used for the familiar hymn “Let All Things Now Living.” Our own Joy Hutchins is a member of this ensemble
Flowers on the Altar: The Flower Committee invites anyone who would like to contribute toward the flowers that beautify our church each week to please put a check in the offering plate and write “For flowers” on the memo line. If you prefer to give cash, include a note with it. Or you can give your contribution to a member of the Flower Committee: Susan Johnson or Rhonda Fenton.
Updated Church Directory now available: Our church photo directory of members, regular attenders, family, and friends has been updated. Printed copies are currrently available on a table in the back of the church sanctuary. Thanks to all who updated your information for us, and thanks to Pastor Chris, Carol Edwards, the Susans (Johnson & Hardy), Elaine Hawthorne — and anybody else whom I may have overlooked – for the ideas and effort to bring us a fresh and much more easily maintained directory!
