Updates: Week of March 12, 2023

Spring forward! Daylight Savings Time starts very early on the morning this Sunday, March 12! If your clocks and devices don’t take care of themselves, please remember to reset at least your alarm clock ahead one hour when you retire on Saturday night! Othewise, you may arrive at church for Sunday morning service just as the service is ending!  Since we might all be a little sleepy Sunday morning, it could be a good time to consider joining our 9 am Sunday morning Bible Study, where there’s always coffee!

The Etna-Hanover Center Mud Season Community Talent SHOW is finally back!!!
when & where: Sat. April 1 @ 7 PM  (no fooling!) on the TRUMBULL HALL STAGE
It’s a “low bar”, so please think about sharing your family-friendly, interesting/unusual/fun talent—3-4 minutes maximum. In past years, we’ve had dancing, singing, music, poetry, hover-boarding, fencing, fireman demonstration, comedy, etc. Don’t be shy! All ages are welcome to perform—or just have fun meeting your neighbors and seeing their talents. We’re accepting donations(food/$) for the Haven — at the door.  For more info or to sign up please contact Marjorie Rose (email’s best).

Watch Parties for The Chosen:  The Chosen is a seven-season episodic television series that creates an authentic and intimate picture of Jesus’s life and ministry, seen through the eyes of the people who knew him. Join us on Friday evenings at 6:30 pm  for our weekly “Watch Parties” to view one episode each week from season 1. There will be popcorn and drinks available for everyone, so bring the whole family. Everyone is invited!

Crafting Together:  It’s a new month (March — for those of you keeping score at home), so it’s time for the next meeting of the crafters! This fellowship group meets on Monday, March 13 at 1 pm in Trumbull Hall. Bring a craft and enjoy the company of others while you knit, sew, or pursue some other way of making things.

LISTEN dinner March 6: Laurie Wadsworth shared some photos of the community meal at Listen from March 6.  Seven people from our church team worked together to cook and then serve pork tenderloins, rice pilaf, salad bar and cookies to the patrons. We’re learning the new routine!  The next LISTEN dinner for our team thereafter will be on May 1st. Contact Laurie if you want to join our team!

Parlez-vous Zoom?  Making our Sunday morning services available via Zoom has become an important part of our ministry.  We are thankful for the technology and the willing hands that allow us to reach beyond the church walls every week.  God is great, indeed!  We could use a couple more “Zoom drivers” on Sunday mornings to provide a quality on-line experience to those who attend our service on-line.  If you enjoy a little mouse-clicking technology, and/or if you don’t mind sitting in the back of the church, you might enjoy running the church Zoom meeting on a Sunday morning!  We use a sign-up schedule and there’s no standing obligation!  If you’d like to help us out on a regular or an occasional basis, or if you’d just like to learn more about how we present church online on Sundays, talk to Pastor Chris, Carol Edwards, Mark Hardy, or Doug Irwin.  We’d love to have you join the Zoom team!

Bible Studies: Our “live” Bible studies continue through Lent – Wednesday mornings at 10 am and Sunday mornings at 9 am, both in Trumbull Hall. We look forward to seeing you at one or both! Note that the Wednesday Bible study is also available via Zoom! Click here to join us “live” via Zoom on Wednesday morning.
