Jesus said again, “Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God. In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked. This Sunday, 20 October, Cru Military - one of our longest supported ministries - will be visiting us to discuss their ministry to United States military forces and to those in over 30 countries worldwide. Our visitors will include their National Directors, Col. (ret.) Ron Rallis and his wife, Sherry, Director of Ministry Advancement Teams, Daryl Dotschay, and our great friend, liaison and Prayer Coordinator, Carrie Pollock. Theirs is a wonderful story of winning, building, and sending troops to serve Christ and country. There will be plenty of trademark Mission Committee pies to accompany their presentation in Trumbull Hall. Come join us! |
Baptism Sundays: On October 27 we will celebrate three baptisms (BREAKING NEWS: four baptisms!) in our Sunday morning service! God is moving and acting in minds and hearts in the Upper Valley! If you are interested in finding out more about baptism (or even if you just have some questions) speak to or email Pastor Chris.
Bible Project: More NLT study Bibles, including the large print version, are available at the Etna church. A comprehensive study Bible is a wonderful resource to aid in reading and understanding the Scriptures. Thanks to the profound generosity of friends and members, we're able to offer a copy to anyone and everyone who would like to have one. Contact Pastor Chris if you have questions – or if you'd like a study Bible. We continue to accept, with gratitude, contributions to fund the purchase of additional copies. On Wednesday mornings at 10 am in Trumbull Hall (Etna), join Pastor Chris for deep and lively discussions sparked by the previous Sunday's sermon.
On Sunday mornings at 9 am (also in Trumbull Hall), we're reading and discussing Hebrews. This week we'll be looking at Chapter 7. If you've ever wanted to know more about Melchizedek, a seemingly minor character in the great arc of Scripture who turns out to represent an important aspect of God's plan for our salvation via His Son Jesus Christ -- well, this Sunday's your opportunity!
No previous experience required. Interesting and stimulating conversation is guaranteed. Both discussion series include coffee and time slot-appropriate snacks. We look forward to seeing you at either or both!

Chicken Pie Supper: This year's supper is on Saturday, Oct 26, from 4:30 to 6 pm. Once again this year, the event will be take out. Reservations are a must - contact Elaine Hawthorne.

- Cost this year is $15 per dinner.
- There is a paper sign-up list for apple pie making on the bulletin board in the Etna Church site in case people would prefer to sign up the old fashioned way.
- We still need squash cookers! Squash will be available from Elaine and can be picked up at the end of church service this coming Sunday from the back of Elaine’s car!! Or feel free to contact Elaine directly if you want to pick up at another day and time.
- A few more volunteers are needed for the event:
- Two more folks needed from 10-12 on the morning of the event to help prep food. And we still need 4 people to help clean up from 5:30-6:30.

Contradance: After getting your chicken pie supper, come to the Contradance in Trumbull Hall, 5 to 6:30 pm on Saturday, October 26. No experience needed for this fun family event!
