Week of January 21, 2023

I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,  being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.   Philippians 1:3-6 (NIV)
Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve Offerings:  It was reported at the most recent Inter-Church Council meeting that the total (combined) offering from 2022's Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve service was $1087.  Half of this is going to Grafton County Senior Citizens Council for their Meals on Wheels program and half to West Central Behavioral Health for mental health and suicide prevention programs.  Echoing Paul's words to the Philippians, we thank God for you and we thank you for your gifts!
Life Shared series:  Starting this Sunday January 21st, join us for Life Shared,  a three-part teaching series on sharing your faith.  If you've ever thought about the topic, and especially if the word evangalism might give you pause ("How do I share my faith without feeling weird?"), this is a great opportunity!   The video series was prepared by the same group responsible for Alpha (https://alphausa.org/) and the videos are, according to Pastor Chris, stellar.  Each week, we'll watch a 15-20 minute video and then discuss it.  This is a great opportunity to get a taste of what Alpha's like and to develop some approaches to share our faith with others who are seeking more in and from their lives.
A light lunch of soup and crackers will be provided.
Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it.
Proverbs 22:6 (NLT)

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” Matthew 19:13-14 (NLT)

Youth Group: Our church has a vibrant and, with the help of God, growing youth group ministry! We wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the schedule. Our youth group(s) meet downstairs during worship service on the first and third Sundays of the month. They remain "in church" (i.e., in the sancturary for the service) on the second Sundays. On the fourth Sunday of each month, they gather to engage in a service project. They also meet during the evening on the third Wednesday of the month. These are opportunities for your children as well as the kids of family, friends, and neighbors, so feel free to share this information with them! We thank God for the future He gives us through the next generation, and we also give thanks to God for those who lead these activities and all those (Christ's body here on earth!) whose efforts make this ministry possible.
Missions Committee Update: The latest update from missionaries Tim and Marketa Southerland is now available. You can read it by clicking here.
